The Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) Chamber Choir hails from the beautiful bluegrass region of Kentucky, famous for its thoroughbred race horses, gently rolling hills, fine bourbon, and vibrant arts culture. Formed in 1989, the LCA Choirs have grown tremendously in the past decade. The school currently hosts five secondary school choirs, in addition to elementary and junior high ensembles, providing musical training to over 200 students daily. Every other year, the auditioned Chamber Choir travels abroad. Performances have included concerts at St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Ignatius Cathedral in Rome, Santo Spirito in Florence, Salzburg Cathedral, the Vienna Minoritenkirche, St. Nicholas Church in Prague, Melk Abbey, St. John's Cathedral in London, and various performances throughout Ireland, Wales, Italy, and Germany. Within the United States, they have mounted concert tours to New York, Philadelphia, Orlando, Nashville, Chicago, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Boston. Choirs from LCA have been featured at invited performances at the Kentucky Music Educators Association’s annual conference three times in the past decade. In 2013, the LCA Chorale was named Grand Champion at the National Choral Invitational in Chicago's Orchestra Hall. All five of LCA's choirs have received consistent distinguished ratings at regional and state performance assessment events. The Chamber Choir and Women's Chorus have also garnered first place awards at national festivals in Nashville, Boston, Philadelphia, and Orlando. In addition to their extensive touring schedule, the LCA Choruses are also active in the Lexington and Central Kentucky community, having performed alongside the University of Kentucky’s world renowned choral music and opera programs, at ceremonial and civic events throughout the city, and at dozens of churches and cathedrals. The mission of the Lexington Christian Academy Chorus program is to glorify God, nurture community, and inspire musical excellence.
