More than two years after the death of Pierre Zakrzewski, we - Pierre's family -, wanted to celebrate Pierre's life and share his incredible gift of storytelling with the world through an exhibition recounting his first freelance missions in the 1990s. The photographs which will appear in the exhibition were taken during his travels in India, Kashmir, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. This period shaped Pierre into the war reporter and cameraman he would later become, as it taught him that, through his lens, he could portray the lives and struggles of men and women beyond borders, sharing their stories with the rest of the world.
Pierre's life being inextricably linked to his work as a war reporter, the exhibition is also the perfect occasion to support journalists around the world. As a result, we have created a fundraiser with Reporters Without Borders (link available here). You will be able to make donations during the event or buy one of Pierre's photos. The money will be added to the fundraiser.
We hope this exhibition will provide an opportunity for those who knew Pierre to share stories of his adventures around the world and reflect on the ways he touched our lives, and for those who never had the chance to meet him, to discover his work and passion.
